My opinions about AI are definitely mixed. I think it can be a really helpful tool in academics or when trying to learn something new, but it does have negative effects on critical thinking skills and can cause students to not actually learn what they should be. It is also really terrible for the environment, which is one of my biggest problems with it.
AI is really good at coming up with study strategies and explaining to me the best way to prepare for a certain exam or test. I have also found that it is great at condensing a lot of material into a more concise study guide to give me an idea of what I need to know before my exam.
If I feel like I have a busy week with lots of tasks to complete and not enough time, I will sometimes have AI come up with a schedule for the days/times I should set aside for each thing I need to get done.
I have found that I understand an article more when I first read a summary from AI and then read the article on my own. This helps me be on the lookout for certain topics and concepts that I should remember, as well as have a vague overview of what I am going to be reading about.
